One month ago, we sent our five 2013 wines to the 2016 San Francisco International Wine Competition, the largest international wine competition in the United States.
Since 2013 is our first commercial vintage, it was the first time we've ever entered our wines in anything like this.
We were five wines among the over 4,600 entrants.
We were told the winners would be announced Monday, June 13.
Like high school students anxiously awaiting their test results, we were updating our e-mail in-box every five minutes.
No results. Nothing. We wondered, "will they say anything if we didn't win anything?" Finally, we went to bed...
At 4:10 this morning, we got the news.
Silver: "Wines awarded a Silver medal are outstanding. Showing refinement, finesse, and complexity, these wines are among the best examples of their class."
2013 Paso Robles Syrah - Silver
2013 Lafond Vineyard Pinot Noir - Silver
2013 Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir - Silver
Bronze: "...among the better examples of their class."
2013 Santa Maria Valley Chardonnay - Bronze
2013 Paso Robles Grenache - Bronze
We're honored by the awards, and will continue to strive for excellence in the years to come.
